Hello to all the readers!

This is the question that “What is the difference between an Infrastructure and Architecture” struck my mind. This thought hit when in the organization people keep saying have you documented the infrastructure of the system and at times some people have you documented the architecture of the system.

So both the terms Infrastructure and Architecture are used interchangeably by us but there must be a difference. And I decided to understand in detail as to what is it.

What is an Infrastructure?

Infrastructure is actually the set of components that make up an entire system. Set of components will include a proxy server, web server, caching server, database server, networking equipment, and so on.

What is an Architecture?

Architecture is actually the design of all the above components and their relationships. So how is a proxy server connected to web server. How is a web server connected to a caching server. How is the web server connected to the database and these things.

In a summary, we can that the whole system is built on an infrastructure and that infrastructure has a specific architecture.
