I recently got a new project to do penetration testing of the systems. I have heard this term but never read in detail about Penetration testing or Pen testing.
What is Penetration Testing?
Pen testing is basically an authorized cyberattack against a computer system or web application to find out the security vulnerabilities in the system. The people who do such attack are called as ethical hackers. And pen testing is thereby a type of ethical hacking.
We can also understand the literal meaning of the word “Penetration”. It simply means to penetrate or get into the secured place. If we get into by different means, then pen testing successfully uncovers the holes in the system.
